Bedtime Last night

My daughter falls asleep with one of us in bed with her every night. While her mother and i seem to be in disagreement, i’ve been trying to get her to fall asleep on her own. I figured “baby steps” with this.

So when she asked me to cuddle with her i told her, “you are almost five. I think it’s time you start falling asleep on your own. i’ll stay in the room with you, but you need to stay in bed by yourself.”

She sweetly asked me again to “cuddle”. I repeated myself. Then she said, “Dad you’ve been cuddling me for a very long time. It’s my turn to cuddle you now”. Then she wrapped her little arms around my neck.

I think getting her to fall asleep on her own is the right thing. I actually had her doing it at one point (resins outside my control). Yet, how does one counter that?

She breaks my heart daily.

What’s My Age Again?

Today my daughter and me were dropping off a package at the UPS store. When we got back in the car she said, “Mass and Age. That’s a compound word.”. I didn’t catch this at first and asked her to repeat it. She said, “Like how old i am. My age And mass. that’s a compound word.”

I looked over to see the word “Massage” over a business in the strip mall. My daughter is 5 in August.

I explained how clever that was. And that she was right to see those two words, but it was actually 1 word with two syllables.
